No, I Wanted the Metric Cephalopod

Read this on Fark today. Gave me a snicker:
when speaking of more than one octopus, multiply 8 by the number you are dealing with, e.g. hexidecipus = 2 octopus. If the number is not known, polypus is acceptable.

Hi,

I was wondering whether you could explain this....

It's two different images form the ESA of the same Mars crater taken from two different perspectives. The strange thing is that the same "image compression artifacts" show up in both images in the same places.
